Schroeder publishes article on podcasting

Ray Schroeder, director of the Office of Technology-Enhanced Learning and professor emeritus of Communication, is the author of “Podcasting in Higher Ed: Reflective, Disruptive, and Evolving,” which appears in February’s online publication Sloan-C View (Volume 6, Issue 2). Journal staff and adviser attend conferences

Emily Martin, Ashley Stoneking, and Paige Bloomfield – three staff members of UIS’ student newspaper, The Journal – were awarded scholarships from the Mid-America Press Institute to attend a conference sponsored by the organization February 10-11 in Memphis. Martin and Stoneking are editor-in-chief and assistant editor, respectively. Bloomfield is the paper’s copy editor.

The seminar offered workshops on newsroom operations, management, and leadership development, and featured several professional journalists as presenters.

Also in February, Journal staff members and adviser Debra Landis attended the annual Illinois College Press Association convention, held in Chicago. Landis presented two invited workshops – one on ad sales and ethical guidelines and one on bridging personality styles to build stronger newsrooms and business departments.
