Sarah Doyle appointed to 2nd term as student trustee

Sarah Doyle, a graduate student in UIS' Public Administration program, began her second term as a student representative to the U of I Board of Trustees on July 1.

Doyle, from LaGrange Park, Illinois, earned the B.A. in Political Studies in May 2007 and was a Capital Scholars Honors student. Active in campus governance, she has served as secretary to the Student Government Association and as student representative to the UIS Campus Senate, as well as holding memberships on UIS' Intercollegiate Athletic Committee, Student Web Advisory Committee for Enrollment, and Campus Strategic Planning Committee. She is currently a graduate assistant in Conference Services. Governor Blagojevich appointed her to have the official student trustee vote for 2006-2007.

Said Doyle, "I am very excited and honored to represent UIS to the Board for a second term. I will always value the experience and knowledge that I am gaining from this opportunity, which has helped me realize even more how much I want to work for higher education in Illinois, perhaps as a lobbyist.

"I look forward to working together with my new student colleagues from UIC and UIUC to ensure that all U of I students are adequately represented and that their voices are heard."

The other student trustees for 2007-2008 are Faizan Shakeel, who will represent the Chicago campus, and Chime Asonye, who will represent Urbana-Champaign. It has not yet been determined which of the three student trustees will have the vote this year.
