Library to present Wordplay
The final film in the spring Foreign & Independent Film Series -- Wordplay, Friday, April 20, at 7 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium – is being sponsored by Brookens Library in conjunction with National Library Week.
This “smart and funny” documentary focuses on the man whose name is, to many, synonymous with crossword puzzles -- New York Times puzzle editor/NPR puzzle master Will Shortz. The film treats viewers to a trip to the 28th annual American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, where Shortz has godlike status, and introduces some of his contributors as well as a few famous crossword addicts, including Bill Clinton and Jon Stewart. (Rated PG)
Before the film, at 6 p.m. in MacDonald Lounge, Virgil Rhodes and Footprints will provide live music. Free beverages will be available and there will be a bake sale, with proceeds going toward the café on level one of the library.
