What it means to be near the top
It's an important day in UIS history. It's the first year we were eligible to be listed in the U.S. News and World Report rankings of best colleges, and we hit a home run. Best master's institution in Illinois -- ahead of SIU-E, for example. And fourth best in the Midwest. This is recognition to which we've been aspiring for several years. It is gratifying. Credit goes to our faculty and staff who first welcomed freshmen seven years ago and nurtured them well. And kudos to those students who embraced UIS and made it the great place it is. Onward!

This is really great news. I really treasure our University and it's great to see us expand year after year. So congratulations to the Chancellor and his staff for a job well done!
This is a great news! However, Ed, you misstated the findings. UIS is the top PUBLIC institution in Illinois for the master's category. We don't do ourselves any favors by exagerating our gains. One step at a time!
