MUSIC ENSEMBLES AT UIS
UIS Chamber Orchestra - MUS 105/305 section B:
The UIS Chamber Orchestra is a small ensemble open to all string, wind and percussion players. Performing an interesting mix of genres, this ensemble and its flexible instrumentation finds itself performing everything from Renaissance dances to Argentinean tangos. Additionally, the UIS Chamber Orchestra often combines with the UIS Chorus to perform mass movements and other similar repertoire and breaks into smaller ensembles to perform more intimate chamber music.
The director of the UIS Chamber Orchestra is Mr. Todd Cranson. String players are always welcome, and all wind and percussion players are encouraged to contact the director to inquire about current needs. Repertoire is chosen based on instrumentation. MUS 105B and 305B may be taken for one credit hour per semester. MUS 105B satisfies one credit of the Visual and Performing Arts General Education Requirement. Three credits are needed to completely satisfy this requirement.
Interested musicians need not register for credit to participate.
