I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in January of 2000. When I began the MBA program at UIS I was working as a loan officer for a local community bank. Upon completion of the program, I was given a raise and took a new position as the VP of Operations. After several months I decided to leverage my degree to see what other opportunities were out there. I now work as a financial advisor for AXA Advisors. AXA Advisors is a subsidiary of AXA, which is the 15th largest company in the world.
As a financial advisor I work with clients to help them achieve their financial goals. Whether the client wants to retire comfortably, pay for a child’s education, buy a vacation home, or pass on a legacy to their heirs, I can help them implement a plan.
I believe the UIS program gives you an added level of business confidence. Although I received a great education at UIUC, the MBA program brought all of my prior classes and work experience together. My wife Theresa and I completed the MBA program together. I would strongly recommend considering the MBA program as a way to springboard your career. The AACSB accreditation that was achieved in 2007 has made this program that much more valuable.
