Entrance Requirements

Admission to the MBA program will be granted to applicants who have demonstrated potential for success in graduate business studies at UIS. The admission decision will be based on the following:

  1. Admission Application and fee;
    Apply online.

  2. GMAT test score OR substantial supervisory experience and managerial responsibility;
    (NOTE: The letters of reference, resume and career goals essay will be used to evaluate supervisory and managerial experience. GMAT scores under 400 will NOT be considered.)
    Go to the GMAT Website.
    Find a local test center.

  3. Official transcripts from every college or university attended indicating that a degree from an accredited university has been earned;
    (NOTE: Applications with an undergraduate cumulative GPA below 2.0 will NOT be considered. A cumulative GPA over 2.5 is preferred.)

  4. Letters of Reference from three people who are in a position to judge your potential for success in the graduate program;

  5. A single-spaced essay, no more than two pages, discussing your career goals and/or professional aspirations, the relevance of those to the MBA and any other information that demonstrates your potential for successful degree completion;

  6. A current resume.

All items above must be completed and GPA/GMAT scores must meet entrance requirements before registering for MBA coursework.

Official copies of the application, transcripts and GMAT scores must be submitted to the UIS Office of Admissions.

All documents required for entrance should be submitted to the MBA Program Office. Photocopies of the application, transcripts and unofficial GMAT score are acceptable.

Springfield Applicants: Although there are no application deadlines, it is wise to submit the above information at least 6-8 before desiring to begin coursework. New students may begin MBA coursework in the Fall or Spring.

Peoria Applicants: Peoria cohorts begin only in the fall. Application prior to April 1 is encouraged.
