Joseph Huff

Joseph W. Huff, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor of Management in the College of Business and Management at the University of Illinois at Springfield. Dr. Huff teaches Managing Organizational Behavior, Organization Development, and Research Methods and Statistical Analysis.

Prior to joining the faculty at UIS, Dr. Huff was an Assistant Professor in the Industrial and Organizational (I/O) Psychology Ph.D. program at the University of North Texas.

Previous to his academic appointments, Dr. Huff was a Program Evaluator at NCS/London House (now Pearson Performance Solutions) in Chicago.  His main duties included the development, validation, and evaluation of the effectiveness of pre-employment selection systems.

Dr. Huff received his Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from Northern Illinois University in 2000, a M.A. from New Mexico State University in 1994 and a B.A, from Bowling Green State University in 1991.

His main teaching interests include organizational behavior, research methods and statistics, organizational change and development, and specialty topics in organizational behavior, including leadership, motivation and employee attitudes, and organizational culture.  At UIS, Dr. Huff teaches courses in Organizational Behavior and Research Methods and Statistical Analysis.

Dr. Huff’s research interests are primarily concerned with how employees experience their organizational environment, as well as their corresponding job attitudes and emotions.  Dr. Huff’s current research projects are examining the definition and measurement, antecedents, and outcomes of job satisfaction, as well as the meaning of person-environment fit.

He has presented over 20 papers at national professional conferences, including the Academy of Management, the American Psychological Association and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology.

He has published refereed papers in the Journal of Applied Psychology, the Journal of Organizational Behavior, the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, and Organizational Research Methods.  In addition, Dr. Huff is currently a reviewer for the Journal of Organizational Behavior and the Journal of Business and Psychology.
