Students can expect to see an increase in their university bills come next fall. The Student Government Association voted to raise several fees on Sunday.

The much debated $17 Athletic Fee increase passed.  This fee will aid UIS in creating a baseball team to make the move to the NCAA as a Division II school.  Opponents argued that students should not have to bear the burden of the fee.  However, the supporters prevailed and argued that ultimately, the increased amount of students on campus would be beneficial financially and it will aid in the growth of UIS.

SGA members passed another fee increase for the Social Change Leadership Development Program. The $7 increase will be added to the activity fee.  This fee would also provide more money to late night programs such as Late Night Stars.

There was also a resolution to approve the proposed General Fee increase of $12 but was tabled with a proposed amendment to have the TRAC gymnasium available to third parties in non-peak hours to help visibility in the committee.  The SGA will vote on this the next time they meet.
