Ed Wojcicki, Associate Chancellor for Constituent Relations and Chief of Staff, announced that a new Vice Chancellor has been chosen for UIS during the April 19 meeting of the Student Government Association. However, Wojcicki said, the candidate’s name cannot be made public until the Board of Trustees have approved the choice.   The formal announcement should be made around July 1, he added.

The SGA also discussed conducting a survey on how students are dealing with meal plan issues.  The information gathered in these surveys could be used to revamp the current meal plan, to make the system more beneficial to students who are having trouble stretching their money to last the whole semester.

The SGA also granted a request for a $400 donation to the Women’s Issues Caucus for the May 2 Take Back the Night march and rally.  The remainder of the daylong event‘s total budget of $1,200, will be covered by a combination of a donation of $500 from ICCB and small donations from other student organizations.

SGA members also began distributing “Know Your Rights” door hangers to on-campus housing after the meeting.  The fliers explain the best way to handle a police search and what the student’s rights are.  For more information see www.uis/sga/initiatives/rights.html
