It’s hard to turn off the mind of a journalist. It’s one of those professions that becomes much more than just a 9 to 5 job. It becomes part of the person’s identity. They’re a watchdog for government, an investigator of organizations, or a curious societal onlooker.
For an editor, assigning stories to reporters can sate this curiosity. Reporters often have to accept story assignments that may not interest them at all. Beyond is a reporter’s opportunity to examine an issue he or she finds interesting. So that’s why inside this semester’s issue of Beyond topics range from dietary disease to state budget concerns to a shift in dating. Each story comes from the heart and mind of the reporter; they want to share this story with all of The Journal’s readers. Thanks for reading and enjoy this semester’s student-produced magazine, Beyond.
