Sangamon County elects local officials

•The race for Circuit Clerk pitted the incumbent Tony Libri (R) against Cecilia Tumulty (D). It was a very close race, but Libri received roughly 52 percent of the vote, while Tumulty received roughly 47 percent.

•In the Coroner’s race, Susan Boone (R) was the incumbent. She went up against Angela “Aby” Phoenix (D). Boone received roughly 58 percent of the vote while Phoenix received roughly 44 percent.

•The race for State’s Attorney was another close one. The incumbent, John Schmidt (R) faced Ron Stradt (D). Schmidt received roughly 53 percent of the vote, Stradt roughly 46 percent.

•A position not won by a Republican was that of County Recorder. Neither candidate was the incumbent.. Don Gray (R) was up against Joshua “Josh” Langfelder (D). Langfelder received roughly 55 percent of the vote while Gray received roughly 44 percent.

•There was one county spot that ran unopposed. The spot of Auditor
remained with the incumbent, Paul Palazzollo.
