Men’s Tennis

Who is your favorite athlete?

I would have to choose two, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer. Both players are arguably the best to ever play their game, and obviously it’s nothing short of amazing being alive to witness the best. Honorable mention Conner McGowan, the drop shot magician.

What kinds of music/artists do you listen to get you ready for matches?

I still have yet to own an iPod, so I don’t listen to anything to get pumped up. I’m pretty calm and have a clear mind before matches anyway, but if I was to listen to something, it would probably be Tiesto or similar techno or electro/trance music.

Where do you spend your time other than on a tennis court?

Going out and hanging with friends, playing FIFA, or playing any other sports. I can’t get enough of anything competitive. Intramural championship t-shirts rock too.

When (age/moment) did you realize you loved playing tennis?

I’m not sure if there has ever been that kind of moment because I love playing all sports and will hopefully never stop, but after high school and debating whether to continue playing a sport in college was definitely the moment when I realized I would hate myself if I stopped playing tennis competitively.

What is a major difference between high school competition and the college level?

Other than the expected insane difference in skill, the diversity of players is an interesting difference. I’ve been teammates with a Peruvian, a Colombian, and a Sri Lankan, met opponents just this weekend from England, Germany, and Switzerland, and they are all good guys and even better tennis players. It’s interesting to see the different playing styles, and it doesn’t hurt laughing (in a good way) at their entertaining expressions of disgust or intensity in various languages and accents.
