The UIS women's softball team made the best out of their last games of the season at the Land of Lincoln complex, winning three out of four during last week. The first doubleheader of the week put the Prairie Stars head-to-head with Stephens College. In game one, both teams stayed scoreless until the fifth inning. Stephens College scored all of their runs during this time frame. The Prairie Stars could not muscle up enough offensive power to respond, and ended up losing the game 7-2. In game two, the Prairie Stars decided to put their offensive power on display. The Stars scored a run in both the second and third innings. In the second, Abby Sparks had a RBI single which scored Jessica Wolff. In the third inning, Nicole McAfee scored on a throwing error.

Stephens College fired back in the fourth inning, scoring two runs to tie the game at 2-2. In the fifth inning, Jessica Wolff put her offensive power on display, hitting a grand slam and putting the Prairie Stars in the lead 6-2. Stephens tried to rally in the sixth scoring two runs, but pitcher Brianne Moeller closed the door on them.

Last Sunday, the Lady Stars decided to bring out their bats against Illinois College, winning both games by a combined ten runs. In game one, every starter for the Prairie Stars had at least one hit in the game, winning 8-4. In game two, the offense did not slow down for the Stars, as they won the game 8-2. Jessica Wolff and Nicole McAfee each had two hits in the game to go along with two RBI each. Brianne Moeller put on a pitching display again in this game, allowing just one earned run during the game.

The Prairie Stars open up AMC conference tournament on Thursday. As of press time, their opponent is not known yet.
