What I learned from All Star Weekend

NBA all-star weekend is finally over. I have spent countless hours in my bed from Thursday thru Sunday, and while doing this, I have come to a lot of conclusions about the NBA and allstar weekend.

Kevin Durant should have been playing in Sunday’s instead of friday

Kevin Durant is averaging 25.5 points per game this season along with 6.7 rebounds. It is very obvious that the coaches do not know an all-star when they see it. Instead of playing in Sunday’s all-star game, he was stuck playing in the rookie/sophomore game. So he decided to put on a display and poured in a game record 46 points on 17 for 25 from the field. The 20 year old shattered the record by 10 points that was previous held by Amare Stoudemire. There was no one that could stop Durant that night.
His shooting display helped the sophomores win the game 122- 116. He’s also pretty good at HO- R-S-E.

The 3-point contest doesn’t show whose the best shooter in the league is

Come on now, Daequan Cook is not the best 3-point shooter in the league. The 3-point contest is all about whose hot and cold at the time. He just so happened to be hotter than the rest of the
players at the time. If they redid the 3-point contest again, I guarantee that Daequan Cook will not win it again. Side note: As a Golden State Warrior fan, I am very outraged at the fact that Anthony Morrow or Kelenna
Azubuike weren’t in this contest. They are ranked 1st and 3rd in the league in 3-point percentage. Doesn’t the 3-point contest suspose to have the best shooters in the league in it? Two of the best shooters in the league weren’t in it though. Seriously who picks these people for these contests?

Derrick Rose will be a top 5 point guard in the league within 3 years tops

In the skills competition, Rose showed why he is the point guard of the future in the NBA. He look so smooth while going through the obstacle course and capped it all off with a doublepump reverse slam. Right now
I believe that he is the quickest point guard in the league, but within the next 3 years he will develop into on the top 5 point guards in the league.

The dunk contest is not what it used to be.

I believe everything has been done possible with the dunk contest. Unless a person can fly and do back flips, everything that you see in the dunk contest will be old. LeBron James said he will in the 2010 dunk contest. Maybe he can bring something to the table in terms of dunks. If Nate Robinson actually jumped over Dwight Howard instead of opening his legs and pushing off his shoulder, that would have been one of the best ever without a doubt.

The MVP for the all-star game was rigged

Kobe and Shaq are BFF’s? I highly doubt that one. But seriously, Shaq should have won the MVP. Kobe goes out and ball hogs in all-star game. He shoots 23 shots in one game, while Shaq plays 11 minutes and scores 17 points off the bench. He also made the game fun, and that’s what you suspose to do in all-star game. Kobe is just out to score points, while Shaq is playing for the fans. Shaq always puts on a display for his fans. He should have out right won the MVP.
