Best Up and Coming Heartthrob:  Sam Worthington

Sam

Worthington feeds our innate American obsessions with exotic accents and schoolboy charm.  English born Worthington sports an Aussie accent, making him an easy target for swooning American fans.

Worthington was a bricklayer before he broke into acting, which could explain those handsomely broad shoulders.

You may have seen him recently in Terminator Salvation, or as the star of the multimillion dollar grossing science fiction film, Avatar. This man definitely has talent.

So, take a man with a great accent, stir in some boyishly good looks, and mix with theatrical ability and you get a total package actor. Definitely keep a look out for Sam Worthington in the future.

Worst Dressed: The Grammy Awards

Grammy

Award shows are typically known for their outrageous wardrobes and subsequent malfunctions, namely because award shows have nothing else to offer.  This year’s Grammy Awards were no different, minus a few seizure-inducing performances featuring Lady Gaga, Elton John, and Pink.  Lady Gaga offered no surprises other than her usual shock value and need to prove her body is all that is woman.  Rihanna hit the red carpet in a futuristic wedding dress, Beyonce is still going for obscene plunging necklines, and Katy Perry and Pink have both decided that nude is the new black.

After this year’s Grammy fashion trends, next year’s invitations are in the works.  RSVP: Clothing Optional.

Best Youtube Channel: Autotune the News

Autotunethenews

Adding to the cultural decay of Youtube is the hilarious staff of Autotune the News, mashing and mixing your favorite news stories with hot electronic beats.  The team provides astute commentary on issues like healthcare reform and harmony with videos like “Auto-tune the News #9: Nobel. Health care.  United.”  They encourage every American by beatboxing under lyrics like, “Don’t get sick …. If you get sick, die quickly.”

Even if Autotune the News does add to cultural decay and online procrastination, these humorous videos have a lot of commentary to add to the very serious situations of our nation.  And anything that can mix college humor with politics is worth watching, even if only for a good laugh.
