When the anticipation began for the new Britney Spears album, nobody knew what to expect. However, Circus debuted Dec. 2 and it is currently taking America by storm. This album is Spears' sixth studio album in her decade-long career. After listening to this album, one can tell that she is obviously not through with performing yet.
The vibe of the album is strong. There are a lot of great dance beats on this album, as well as some classic ballads. It’s a good solid album to pave the way for her “comeback” to music and fame. She exudes confidence and strength throughout the album which she has not shown in a few years.
The first single Womanizer has been the catapult for this album. It’s her first number one single on Billboard’s Top 100 in ten years. The song sets the tone for the album. It’s an empowering song that shows her spunk and attitude. The song, as well as the album as a whole, clearly states that she is back with a vengeance and taking names along the way.
The second single set to come out is Circus, which is the title track of the album. It’s got a great beat and a great message. She refers to herself as “the ring leader” in this song. The message is that she knows she is in the limelight and she is ready to take charge and do what she needs to do.
Another great song is Kill The Lights. This is the perfect club song. It has a great beat and great lyrics. The first line is “you don’t like me, I don’t like you, it don’t matter” and it sets the tone for the song. She is almost challenging people to doubt her.
Other notable songs on the album are Shattered Glass, which is a great revenge song for an ex. If You Seek Amy has some hidden undertones throughout it, but a catchy chorus and a great dance beat.
She does have ballads and slower songs on the album as well called Out From Under, Blur, and My Baby. They showcase the fact that she can do
Whether you’re a fan or not of Britney Spears, most people know she has had some major issues in the past few years. This album really shows she is back on the right track, and it’s not over for her yet. I give it 5 stars.
