Being from Chicago, where there is a plethora of great Thai or Asian restaurants, I was a little worried I wouldn’t find a good one here in Springfield. Well found not only a good one, but a fantastic one. Little Saigon on Wabash Avenue is a cute little place with a lot of seating that serves Vietnamese and Thai food.
The food is obviously the highlight of the restaurant, but the really cool thing is the atmosphere. You can go in there with a group of friends, a date, or even co-workers for a work meeting and it’s appropriate for all of those things.
When you walk in you will see a bar with a lot of fruit on it. This is where they make the smoothies. They have a huge variety of smoothies that are made with fresh fruit right there and are fantastic. Any kind of combination you can think of, you can get.
As for the food, Vietnamese is the main staple, but they also have Thai food. They have a ton of appetizers. I recommend the Vietnamese steamed dumplings. They have your typical egg rolls and spring rolls too. As for the meals, they have everything from spicy to mild and chicken to seafood. I have not tried any of the Vietnamese dishes yet, but their Pad Thai and Pad Se Eu are fantastic. One of the other popular dishes is the Crystal noodles.
If you’re a vegetarian, there are no worries. This is a very vegetarian friendly restaurant. Most of the noodle dishes don’t come with any meat unless you order it to be added into the dish. And if you wanted a little something extra, you can get tofu in your dishes to accompany your vegetables and noodles and such. They also have fabulous deserts as well.
There is some kind of food to appeal to everyone at this restaurant. It is probably one of my favorite places to go eat in Springfield. They are located at 1531 Wabash Ave in Springfield. I give this restaurant 5 stars.
