Skip Starbucks for Monte Caffino

Many of us depend on a good cup of coffee in the morning. Iam personally a coffee addict, bordering on  coffee snob. There are of course a few Starbucks throughout town, but what about an alternative? Does Springfield have something comparable? Maybe even better?

Try Monte Caffino, a little place with a red awning on Jefferson Street. It’s a staple in many people’s morning routines. This is a small, locally-owned business, and the coffee is just as good, if not better, than any chain coffee place. Monte Caffino's is a drive-thru only, but it’s very convenient if you're heading to work in the morning.

Whether it’s a latte, a cappuccino, or plain old coffee, you can get anything you crave here.My personal favorite coffee is the “Grasshopper,” which is basically a mint coffee which you can get it iced or hot.

You can also get your typical pastries there too. They have muffins, cookies, and scones. The chocolate with chocolate chips muffin is highly recommended.

If you want to try something different than Starbucks while supporting local businesses,  this is definitely a good one to try.

Monte Caffino is located at 1610 W. Jefferson. They are open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. and 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. They are closed Sundays. I give Monte Caffino 4 out of 5 stars.
