Rosters for Springfest 2006 – “Make Some Illi-Noise” are due to the Student Life Office no later than 5 p.m. March 30. Rosters are available in LRH, Housing Commons, Pennyroyal 20 and Student Life.

Cheerleading and mascot tryouts for the 2006-07 school year are April 2 from 3-6 p.m. in the UIS Gym. Men and women are eligible to tryout for the 18-member team. Options are available in case candidates have a conflict. There will be another tryout in the fall. Tryout packets with team requirements and expectations are available at the athletic office or by visiting the Athletics Web site. UIS will host Technology Day 2006 on the second floor of UHB from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 14. Speakers will discuss the variety of technology and learning methods available at UIS. Keynote speaker Margaret Maag of the University of San Francisco will discuss the “mobile learning” revolution. This year’s theme will be “UIS Moving Beyond the Boundaries.” Prizes will be given away and refreshments served. This event is sponsored by the Academic Technology Committee, Brookens Library, Information Technology Services and the Office of Technology-Enhanced Learning. UIS’s Sixth Annual Science Research Symposium, featuring presentations on applied or theoretical science by undergrad and graduate students and faculty, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21 at UIS. Awards will be presented for best posters and oral presentations. The deadline to submit an abstract is April 1. For details, go to www.uis.edu/biology/. Registration fee is $10 but is waived for students who are members of biology or chemistry clubs.
