Tomorrow
Asperger’s Syndrome Support and Awareness of Central Illinois will hold an informational meeting from 7-9 p.m. tomorrow in CPV 153.  Guest speakers will be Sherruka Green, employment counselor, and David Munroe, an independent living specialist, from the Springfield Center for Independent Living. Friday
The Division of Student Affairs at UIS is sponsoring a Foreign and Independent Film Series at 7 p.m. Friday nights in Brookens Auditorium this spring. Admission is free.
This week’s film is “The Real Dirt on Farmer John.” Other films in the series include “Everything Is Illuminated,” March 10; “City of God,” March 17; “Bride and Prejudice,” March 31; “Keys to the House,” April 7; “The Assassination of Richard Nixon,” April 14 and “Tibet: Cry of the Snow Lion,” April 21.

Christian Student Fellowship’s annual Celebration Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Rochester Christian Church. The fundraiser will include a dinner of herb chicken breast with linguine and marinara sauce, Italian salad, breadsticks and dessert. The evening will feature music from the CSF worship team, testimonies from current students and alumni and an offering to finance student mission trips and overall operation of campus ministry. There will be an Open House in the CPV from 5:30-7:00 p.m. Friday night for UIS students and faculty to showcase their art.  Live music will be performed by the Chorus, Band and Chamber Orchestra. Refreshments will be available.

Spring Break.

March 18
UIS will host “Expanding Your Horizons in Math, Science and Technology,” a hands-on conference designed for girls in sixth-eighth grades from 8:45 a.m.-12:45 p.m. March 18 in the PAC. The conference is sponsored by UIS and The Children’s Center, Memorial Health System. Workshops will be available for girls, parents and educators to prepare girls for cutting-edge careers and a variety of fields. Advance registration is required. Cost is $10 for registration postmarked by March 10 and $15. Detailed information can be found at www.aauw-il.org/springfield.

April 2
Cheerleading and mascot tryouts for the 2006-07 school year are April 2 from 3-6 p.m. in the UIS Gym. Men and women are eligible to tryout for the 18-member team.  Options are available in case candidates have a conflict. There will be another tryout in the fall. Tryout packets with team requirements and expectations are available at the athletic office or by visiting the Athletics Web site.
