Friday through Sunday Kick off the Halloween season with a murder mystery dinner theater “Vintage Murder” Sept. 30, Oct. 1-2 at Route 66 Convention Center on S. Sixth Street and Stevenson Drive . Three-course dinner and cash bar. Tickets are $35. Call 726-8041 to reserve. Tickets must be picked up at Route 66. All cancellations must be made 72 hours in advance. Proceeds go to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Saturday The Springfield Disc Golf Club will host the Seventh Annual Capital City Challenge Oct. 1 at Douglas Park, 400 N. MacArthur Blvd , in Springfield . Oct. 9 The Blue Crew is looking for any faculty and staff who would be interested in playing against them in a volleyball game to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Katrina. The game is at 3 p.m. Oct. 9 in the UIS Gym. Those interested should e-mail Brad J. Ward at bward03s@uis.edu.

The Visual Arts Gallery will open its 2005 fall season with “Routeless: New Work by Leslie Stalter,” on display through Sept. 29.
