Board Feet” next at UIS Visual Arts Gallery
“Eight Board Feet,” an exhibit of paintings by Marina Mangubi,
will be on display from Jan. 13 through Feb. 10 at the Visual Arts Gallery
at UIS.
The exhibit is free and open to the public.
The Visual Arts Gallery is located in room 201 of the Health and Sciences
Building on the UIS campus. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday
through Thursday.

RAD Training for spring
The four session Rape Aggression Defense course will be offered for free
to female students, faculty and staff at UIS.
The sessions will last for about three hours and are scheduled on Tuesdays
in February beginning at 5:30 p.m. Sergeant Mike Stuart and Officer Amanda
Parris of the UIS police will lead the training sessions.

Appreciative Inquiry
A presentation by Dr. Leigh Steiner, mental health and communications
consultant and adjunct faculty in ethics and community counseling, on
a way to see your world (and your work) optimistically, to harness the
best and feel good about it will be held on Jan. 25 from 12 to 1:30 p.m.
in the Studio Theatre.
Participants may bring a lunch.

Public invited to join UIS
musical groups
Members of the community who are interested in sharing their musical talents
are invited to join one or more of the five campus ensembles currently
gearing up for the spring semester at UIS. Auditions are not required
to join any of the groups, and most can be taken for academic credit.
Rehearsals for the groups listed below begin the week of Jan. 10 and are
open to the public. All sessions meet in room 208 of the Health and Sciences
Building at UIS.
The UIS Chorus rehearses from 7 to 9:15 p.m. Tuesdays and from 3:30 to
5:30 p.m. on Thursdays. Students wishing to take this class for academic
credit should enroll in MUS 301 Vocal Music Ensemble.
The UIS Band has rehearsals from 4 to 6 p.m. on Mondays. Students wishing
to earn academic credit for participating in the band should enroll in
MUS 305 Instrumental Music Ensemble.
The UIS World Percussion Ensemble meets from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesdays.
Students wishing to take this class for credit should enroll in MUS 305
Instrumental Music Ensemble.
The UIS Native American Flute Circle meets on the second Monday of each
month from 7 to 9 p.m. and is co-sponsored by the Central Illinois Flute
Circle.
The UIS Chamber Music Ensemble rehearsals are from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Instrumental Music Ensemble.

Blackboard Workshop
The Office of Technology-Enhanced Learning will be providing a workshop
for students on how to use Blackboard 6 on Saturday, Jan. 22 in HRB 111
from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This is a hands-on session.

Don't forget to purchase your
parking decal for the Spring semester!
Parking decals are on sale now at the Cashier Office, PAC 184. The decals
currently on sale cost $24 and are good through Aug. 31, 2005. The deadline
to display your decal is Friday, Jan. 28.
2005-2006 RA Selection information
Application packets will be available Monday, Jan. 24 for those interested
in being an RA. All areas of Housing need to be staffed for the 2005-2006
academic year. Deadline for application is Feb. 23, 2005.
If you are interested but unsure, there will be four information sessions
open to residents in all areas. These sessions are scheduled as follows:
Jan. 24 in LRH at 5 p.m., Jan. 26 in HCOM at 5 p.m., Jan. 28 in LRH at
5 p.m. and Jan. 30 in P20 at 5 p.m.
