| Multicultural
student leadership retreat
The Office of Multicultural Student Affairs at the University of Illinois
at Springfield will be hosting a multicultural student leadership retreat
on Jan. 14-16, 2005.
The program is designed to prepare participants to work with individuals
of different backgrounds on campus and in the community and empower student
leaders to take action.
If you are interested in attending, please fill out an online application
at www.uis.edu/multiculturalstudentaffairs. A $20 materials fee is charged
if the application is expected. Food, lodging and transportation will
be provided free of charge.

Talent Expo 2005 is
coming
The Talent Expo will be held Friday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Student
Center. Prizes will be Visa gift cards in the amount of $100 for first
prize, $65 for second and $35 for third.
The event is sponsored by the UIS Counseling Center and the Substance
Abuse Task Force, with funding provided by the Student Programming Board.

“Leave No Family
Behind”
A panel of experts and same-sex couples from Springfield and the surrounding
area will facilitate a discussion of marriage equality, same-sex marriage,
and the everyday obstacles faced by gay male and lesbian families. A question-and-answer
session will follow the discussion.
The event will be from 7 - 9 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 19 in Brookens Auditorium
The event is sponsored by ACLU of Illinois; ACLU Springfield chapter;
Lambda Legal Defense; Equality Illinois; Prairie Flame; Planned Parenthood
- Springfield Area; National Association of Social Workers - Illinois,
Springfield District; CORAL; Heartland MCC; UIS Alliance; AIDS Foundation
of Chicago; People for the American Way and Protestants for the Common
