Volunteer opportunity with Washington Middle School

            Washington Middle School, 2300 E. Jackson, is looking for mentors and tutors for children to help with sixth and eighth grade reading throughout the late fall and spring semesters.

            Tutors are needed for one to three hour blocks during the school day, 8:45 a.m.-2:30 p.m., and mentors are needed for one hour each week.

            Background checks are required and will be performed free of charge.

            Applications are available by contacting the Office of Student Volunteers and Service Learning in the Student Affairs Building, room 60.

            You decide who gets shaved.  Put money in the bucket of the Resident Assistant who you want to see go home for break without any hair.  Buckets at Lincoln Residence Hall front desk and the cafeteria this week.  The shaving will take place Dec. 7 at 10 p.m. in the LRH Café lobby.

 Hepatitis B vaccine

            The Campus Health Service has about 15 doses of Hepatitis B vaccine that will outdate fast.  Hepatitis B vaccine is given in a series of three doses, one now, one three months later, and one six months after the original dose.  The usual cost is $35 for students and $40 for employees.  The first shot would be $10 and the second and third shots would be charged at the usual rate.
