Internet Explorer 7 and blackboard

  1. Download the installer from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/

    a. From this page you need to click download.
    b. From the drop-down box, choose the version of Windows you are using (probably Windows XP Service Pack 2 (SP2)).
    c. Click go.
    d. If you are given a download notice, click Save or Save File.

  2. Close all applications and programs that are running.
  3. Locate the IE7-WindowsXP-x86-enu file (should be on your desktop) and double-click it.
  4. Cick Next and then click I Accept.
  5. Click Validate to allow Windows to inspect your copy of Windows (NOTE: This step requires that you have an active internet connection running).
  6. Click Next to download and install any security updates that are recommended (this will be done automatically). IE7 will now begin to install.
  7. When installation is complete click Restart Now (Recommended) to restart your computer

    a. After Restarting and launching IE7 for the first time you might receive a message about Microsoft Phishing Filter. Check the circle next to Turn on automatic Phishing Filter (recommended) and click OK.
