Barbara A. Galik

President, Alliance Library System Board of Directors



Biography:
Barbara Galik became Executive Director of Bradley University’s Cullom-Davis Library in June 1997.  Previously, she was Assistant University Librarian for Information and Research Services at Miami University in Oxford, OH.

Ms. Galik was also Head of the Slavic and East European Division and Coordinator of Area Programs at the University of Michigan; Head of the Slavic and East European Section at the University of Washington; and Reference Librarian and Slavic Bibliographer at the University of Kentucky.  She has masters degrees in Library Science and Russian Literature from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Ms. Galik joined Second Life in August 2006.  She serves as Chair of the SL Advisory Council and Chair of the ELVEN Institute Board.  The SL Advisory Council is the equivalent of the Alliance Library System Board of Directors.  She also chairs the Executive Committee of both groups and helps SL residents with various questions and concerns.

Current projects related to Second Life include chapters in two books, an article for a special journal issue, various grant projects and numerous presentations across the US.
