MORE INFORMATION ABOUT USING REMOTE DESKTOP
Saving on the Remote Desktop
There are two ways to save while connected to the server.
UIS Network storage drive: This is usually found in the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. For a more detailed explanation of your student network drive, visit the Student Server Storage web page
Local Hard Disk/Floppy Drive : These are usually found in the "My Computer" icon on the desktop. They are listed as A and C in the "Other" Catagory.
Printing on the Remote Desktop
On campus, printing is allowed on the server and the standard fees bound to printing on campus still apply. When you are ready to print, simply select the printer in the location nearest to you. [For example, if you are in Brooken's Library select one of the library printers.]
From off-campus, if you have a printer on your computer you may print directly to your own printer while connected to the server. Details on how this is done are listed above in the "How to connect" section.
Excerpts taken from the UIS Ed Tech website
http://edtech.uis.edu/software/remotedesktop.html
The easiest way to print is to save files on a local drive, minimize the remote desktop, and print from your local computer.
From on campus network, students can save files to Z: drive .
Saving Files
Files can be saved on the remote server, EDTECH-TS. C: drive, D: drive, and A: drive from MY Computer will represent server drives. The local computer's drives will be represented by the computername and drive letter.
Use Save As to save files to your local computer.
