We have a variety of courses and programs to help students achieve their English goals. While our classes are designed to supplement your core education, you don't have to be a UIS student to take part. Our classes offer university credit and we encourage all non-native English speakers to apply.

One of the best things about UIS is our size and focus on community. Since we are a fairly small university, students get individualized attention and develop relationships with professors and fellow classmates. Our classes are taught by expert faculty and use modern methods. Springfield is the capitol of Illinois; centrally located between Chicago and St. Louis, we are a diverse, safe, and friendly community. Our campus community is a blend of students from Illinois and around the world, students who have just graduated from high school to those with families and successful careers, and students interested in business and visual arts.
