What should you do to prepare for college?
Senior Year

Take a last look at your choice colleges: visit classes, talk to profs, deans and coaches, and chat with students.

If you haven’t done it already, take the ACT or SAT. If you have, consider taking it again to improve test scores.

Continue searching for scholarships.

Begin to narrow your list of prospective colleges.

Ask teachers, counselors, pastors or employers to write letters of recommendation.

File the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 1. Turn in high school transcripts and admission applications to UIS by January 15 for priority consideration.

After receiving acceptance letters, students should make their selection and meet deadlines for scholarships, registration, housing, and payment.
Summer before entering college
- Students accepted to UIS should attend one of the university’s Orientations in anticipation of their freshman year.
