The UIS Computer Science program is proud of:

• A nearly 100% placement rate for graduates at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
• Placement on State Farm Insurance’s elite list of college computer science programs from which to recruit highly qualified new professionals.
• Undergraduate students who participate in National Science Foundation sponsored research and have gone on to present their findings at conferences as well as published formal papers delineating their research experience.
• A $3 million Homeland Security grant to operate a regional training center for IT security, providing students with invaluable preparation for one of the highest demand fields in the world today.
• Labs loaded with the latest, such as Sun Micro Systems servers and microcomputers running various operating systems; and a fully equipped modern networking lab.
• Courses in which students design and implement a robot.
• Online Degree option - the same professors teaching in the classroom teach our online courses.
• The option of “No Thesis – No Project” for master’s degree candidates. Instead, students cap their collegiate careers by taking a Graduate Research Seminar that focuses on developing excellent research skills.
