Rebecca Jo Luke
Rebecca completed her degree in Legal Studies in December 2012. She became interested in the Illinois Innocence Project after hearing exoneree Julie Rea speak at the 2011 Defenders of the Innocent Awards Fundraiser.
Rebecca has a keen interest in the confluence of policy and law and has worked extensively with many community organizations. Her main interest lies in claims of innocence related to sexually- based offenses and examining the evidence protocols used in these cases. Working with the IIP allowed Rebecca to experience how legal advocacy can affect the lives of real people.
After completing an Applied Studies Term at the Innocence Project, Rebecca began working as support staff. She performed legal research and investigation for Project attorneys, collaborated on managing media relations and assisted with fundraising and community outreach.
Rebecca currently works for a law firm in Jacksonville, Illinois.
