ITS boasts a wide variety of technology to assist in the planning and delivery of events, including meetings, workshops, conferences, and more.
Making Your Event Available for Online Participants
GoToMeeting allows users to broadcast their presentation live online. Participants need only an Internet connection and speakers or a headset. If they have a microphone, participants will be able to speak. Otherwise, a chat feature is available. Participants will see whatever is displayed on the presenter’s computer and will hear the presentation. Elluminate can also be used to make your event available online. The Center for Online Learning, Research, and Service has three vClassrooms available. Each vClassroom is available 24/7, allows 25 total users, and is scheduled on a first-come, first-serve basis. To use this technology, submit a vClassroom request form.
Recording Your Event
There are two resources available for recording your event.
Camtasia Relay can be used on any computer (on or off campus). Relay records your audio and whatever is displayed on the presenter’s computer.
Echo 360 is available for on-campus events only. Echo 360 captures your audio, whatever is displayed on the presenter’s computer, and a video of the presentation. Echo 360 is set up in BRK 141A/B, UHB 2025, UHB 2034, UHB 3080. Delivering the Presentation
To help engage the audience and/or provide a mechanism for assessment, clickers are available for on-campus events. Formally referred to as an ‘audience response system’, clickers are remotes that allow the presenter to ask questions to which the audience responds by pressing a button on their clicker. A graph of the results is displayed and results can be exported to Excel for analysis after the session.

SMART Podiums are available in several classrooms throughout campus. A podium is a display that allows you to interact with the computer by using a stylus as your mouse, annotate documents, or simply write notes on the computer. Podiums are a great alternative to writing on the board because it is easier for the audience to see, can be recorded using Camtasia Relay or Echo 360, and is broadcast to online participants when using GoToMeeting.

A tablet PC is available for check-out when you are doing a presentation that is not in a location with a interactive whiteboard or a SMART Podium. A tablet PC offers the same features as the SMART Podium and interactive whiteboards. To check-out this device, please contact Gary Bach at 206-6556 or Veronica Espina at 206-6322.
Skype is available for guest speakers that are unable to come to campus. This application allows the guest speaker and the audience to interact and see each other via the internet. To use Skype for your event, please contact Ian Fitzgerald at 206-6793 or email email@example.com.
For those presenters using PowerPoint, presenter remotes are available which allow you to stand anywhere in the room and advance your PowerPoint presentation. To reserve a presentation remote, please contact Ian Fitzgerald at 206-6793 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Technology Available in Classrooms
Each classroom at UIS is equipped with an Internet-accessible presenter computer already connected to a projector. In addition, each classroom has a combo VCR/DVD player, document camera, and secondary input (to connect to a laptop, for example). Each classroom in UHB has an interactive whiteboard. There are several classrooms throughout campus with SMARTBoards. [link to SMART Products page here].
