Legal Director Lauren Kaeseberg
Lauren handles Illinois Innocence Project cases in the Northern counties of Illinois. After teaching high school in Chicago, Lauren attended Cardozo Law School in New York City where she participated in the Innocence Project clinic program as a law student, an intern and a Teaching Assistant. After graduating from law school, Lauren moved back to Chicago and has practiced as a criminal defense attorney ever since. She worked at a small criminal defense firm in Lake County, Illinois for two years and then left the firm to join the defense team of Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, who she represented at both trials and on appeal. Lauren has extensive experience in trial level, post-conviction and appellate cases. Throughout her criminal defense practice, Lauren has always maintained her passion for innocence work and maintained a case load of DNA cases. Her current role at the Illinois Innocence Project focuses on DNA cases under the Bloodsworth DNA Grant.
