Dr. Rachell Anderson is a licensed Clinical Psychologist and Professor.
She designed and served as chair of the Human Services
program from its inception in 1999 until 2006,
and now heads the Child and Family Studies Concentration.
She
is credentialed by the National Register of Health
Service Providers in Psychology and has run a private
clinical practice in Springfield, Illinois since
1974.
She received her doctorate of psychology in Clinical Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Master's degrees from Northern Illinois University and the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Bachelor's degree from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas. She has lectured widely, served as vice president and chair of the publications committee for the North American Society of Adlerian Psychology. She founded the Central Illinois Society of Adlerian Psychology, served for 2 years as is Co-President of the Central Illinois Psychological Society, and a member of the American Association of Black Psychologists, the American Psychological Association and the National Organization of Human Services.
Dr. Anderson has received many awards,
lectures widely and has written 7 books. Her most recent publications are: "Before
Our Eyes," a chronicle of the healing advantages of watching psychotherapy
between a client and a therapist in an open forum and "The Legacy Continues:
Writing Healing Stories." Her latest interest "Writing as a tool
for Healing" involves designing training experiences which teach techniques
for writing stories from early childhood memories which heal present emotional
pain.
Dr. Anderson has received many awards over the
years including The Committee for Children's Award
for 25 years of dedicated services on the Family
Stress team; Who's Who Among America's Teachers, Who's Who Among Outstanding
Americans.
