TITLE:  Assistant Professor, Psychology

POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Psychology Department at the University of Illinois at Springfield has an opening beginning August 16, 2012, for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level.  Requirements include a Ph.D. from an accredited university with a focus in Developmental Psychology, to teach undergraduate upper and lower division courses in Life Span Development, Adolescence, Child Development, Family Psychology, and Principles of Psychology.  There is also a possibility of teaching Family Psychology, Research Methods, Senior Seminar and other courses in the candidate’s specialty area.  The applicant should demonstrate potential for scholarship and/or research in a specialty area.  Normal teaching load is three 4 credit hour courses per semester.  Advising is required.  College teaching experience is preferred, and dedication to teaching is essential.  A Ph.D. must be awarded by the start date.

QUALIFICATIONS:  Ph.D. in Psychology with specialized training in Developmental Psychology or a related area from a regionally accredited university by the start date.  Prior evidence of excellence in teaching and a demonstrated potential for research is desirable.
