No Frills 2012: Shoot for the Stars!

Delegates have the option of going out to dinner upon their arrival on Friday night. If you would like to stay around the Hilton and campus there is a large selection of restaurants, such as; Bob Evan’s, HorseshoeCheddar’s, Applebee’s, Long John Silver’s, McDonalds, Taco Bell, Red Lobster, Hooters, Steak N’ Shake, IHOP. To get more of a feel for the city of Springfield, delegates may travel to downtown Springfield to experience what the locals do. Try a “horse shoe” at D’Arcy’s Pint, Springfield invented the “horse shoe”, get a pizza at The Pizza Machine (Pizzas are delivered to your table via crane), or how about a “Cozy Dog” at the Cozy Dog Drive In? Springfield also has many more one-of-a-kind restaurants.

On Saturday morning, breakfast will be served at the Hilton Garden Inn. The breakfast will be continental, or if delegated will like a buffet-style option, the Hilton serves it Cheese cakeup. After a few hours in the boardroom, delegates will be moving to the Lincoln Residence Hall Great Room for a catered meal of sandwiches, chips, drinks, and dessert. Snacks will also be served in the boardroom in the morning, afternoon, and night.

Dinner on Saturday night will be in the Public Affairs Center and will be catered by University of Illinois Springfield Food Service. The dinner featured starts with Italian style salad with sliced Roma tomatoes, croutons, parmesan cheese, shaved red onions, green olives and assorted dressings, penne pasta salad with vegetables and tomatoes. LasagnaThe main course is baked lasagna with meat sauce, grilled basil chicken, vegetable lasagna, rice pilaf with sun dried tomatoes, and sautéed Italian vegetable medley with balsamic vinegar. Dessert includes a luscious mousse with mini Italian cookies, lemon chiffon torte with raspberry sauce.

Not to worry, ALL diet restrictions/allergies will be taken care of and arranged for by the Chair of Hospitality in order to accommodate everyone.

The Hospitality Room was graciously donated to us from the Hilton Garden Inn. The Hilton and the bid team have agreed on a menu already for the hospitality room for both nights and the menus both include snack items and drinks. The drinks are non-caffeinated, per NACURH policy. In addition to the food and snack, stations will be set up in the lobby of the Hotel for delegates to interact, network, and play games.
