2009-2010 Contract Renewal Instructions

First Step: Application (Available Saturday, 4/18-Sunday, 4/26 at 11:59pm)

  • If you are choosing to return to UIS Housing for the summer 2009 and/or fall 2009-spring 2010 semesters, you will need to go to the following website to notify us of your intention.
  • Contract Renewal Application
  • Once you go to this page, you will be asked for your Login ID and Password.  Your Login ID will be your unique UIN (university ID number). Your Password is your Date of Birth.  The format is outlined below.

**Make sure to use slashes between month/date/year.

  • At this point, you should be allowed to enter into the application where you are shown an information page with instructions, important dates, and an “I Agree” & “I Do Not Agree” button.

If you are not allowed into the application, it is likely that there may be a problem with your UIS Housing standing.  You should have received a notice documenting your change in standing (ie. financial hold, judicial standing, and enrollment matters).  This will prevent you from returning to UIS Housing.

  • Student Biographical Information Page.  Please complete this page & update any changes to your permanent address, gender, and criminal history disclosure.
  • 2009-2010 Preference Page.  Please complete this page & respond to: Contract Renewal, Themed Wings (if needed), Roommate Requests (if any), and Other Options.

    Homesteading Process— allows current residents of an apt/townhouse to sign up for the same apt/townhouse with one or more roommates (the roommates can be current residents from another campus space, or new applicants), or their family.  Residents requesting this option must be returning to the same space for Fall 2009/ Spring 2010.  It is not necessary to live in your apt during the Summer in order to Homestead.

Group Change Process— allows two or more residents to sign up for a different space than they currently reside in with one or more roommates of their choosing.  This is one of two options that first year students have.

Individual Change Process— allows a resident who has no requested roommates to select their space for summer and/or next academic year.  This is the second option that a first year student has.

Family Housing—allows current and interested residents who need family housing to notify Housing for the fall 2009-spring 2010 semesters.  Current family occupants will be homesteaded into their current apartment.

Summer Only Process—allows a resident to sign up ONLY for the summer 2009 term.  This resident has no intention of continuing in UIS Housing after July 26, 2009.

  • Roommate Preferences - allows current residents to request other current residents by providing a first and last name. The roommate request will remain uncomfirmed until it becomes a mutual request. Please note that there are some students that are required to live in specific areas & may not be allowed to room with you (sophomores allowed in Founders or Pennyroyal, Honors sophomores allowed in Lincoln, juniors, seniors, graduates not able to move into Pennyroyal).
  • Summer 2009 Options.  Please complete this page to let us know if you are contracting for a summer space.  There is also an option listed on this page giving students the ability to apply for “Special Summer Storage”.
     
    Summer Cancellation Deadline—if you sign up for summer and then later change your mind, please make sure to submit a contract cancellation into the Central Housing Office by 4/30/2009 in order to not receive financial penalties.

    Special Summer Storage— Many students do not enjoy the process of moving out, then moving back in 2 months later.  So, Housing and Residential Life is offering a reduced rate 1/3 of the regular summer cost (1/3 of 11 weeks) to those returning residents who want to leave their personal belongings locked and unavailable in their private bedroom for the duration of the Summer until August. 

     
     
     
    Apply Signature Page-  This page allows you to make your final submittal of your 2009-2010 Contract Renewal.  Once you have completed this application process, UIS Housing will review your submitted information & will proceed. 

Second Step: Selecting Your Room (OPENS Tuesday, 4/28 at 10:00am)

  • Group Change & Individual Change
  • Go back to the Contract Renewal Application link
    1. Review the rates before choosing your room
    2. Check any roommates that you would like to pull in with you
    3. Select your room by choosing from the following:

      Themed Wings-specialty wings are offered in both Founders and Lincoln Residence Halls (Healthy Lifestyles & Quiet Study)

      Buildings & Areas-are broken up into the residence hall buildings and the names of the apartments & townhouses. Please remember that certain areas are not available to residents based on class standing or curriculum type (ie. Honors, Traditional Soon To Be Sophomores)

      Room Type-is broken up into the differing bedroom options (residence hall shared or private, shared unrenovated apartment, private bedroom townhouse, private bedroom apartment, etc.)

    The fewer options that you select in order to choose your room, the more spaces will show as options in your results.

    Once you select your room & agree with the selection, you will have then completed the on-line renewal process. We will send you a copy of your contracts that must be signed and returned to the UIS Housing Office by Monday, 5/11/2009.
