Phi Alpha Theta is the National Honor Society in History. Its mission is to promote the study of history through the encouragement of research, good teaching, publication, and the exchange of learning and ideas among historians. They seek to bring students, teachers, and writers of history together for intellectual and social exchanges, which promote and assist historical research and publication by its members in a variety of ways.
Membership is not limited to History majors. Those interested in joining may contact the History GA (Contact US) for an application form.
Initiation into the UIS branch of Phi Alpha Theta takes place in the spring, with a recognition event held shortly before graduation.
