Any students who are members of Phi Alpha Theta, the history honor society, are entitled to wear honor cords at graduation. Any Phi Alpha Theta members walking in Spring Commencement 2007 may pick up their cords in the office of the History G.A., UHB 3065, anytime during the day, Monday through Thursday.
The Applied Study Program has several internship opportunities for undergraduate history students at locations including the Iles House, the Museum of Funeral Customs, and the Illinois State Historical Society. Please contact the Applied Study Term program to apply.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum is now accepting applications from college students who are indersted in non-paid internships in a variety of departments at the Library and/or Museum. October 2006: As part of the 2006 Lincoln's Legacy Lecture Series at UIS, two historians, Mark Noll and Ronald White, came to campus on October 26 to discuss different aspects of Lincoln's faith in God.

New Faculty & Staff Fall 2006: The UIS History Program welcomes two new additions to its team, Dr. Erik Eliav Freas and Amanda Winters. Dr. Freas is the newest faculty to join UIS History and specializes in Modern Middle-Eastern History.
