Research Board

Committee Charge

The Research Board is a Campus Senate committee with the following charge:

  • Establish procedures and serve as a review committee for a program of intramural awards to support faculty scholarly activity

  • Provide guidance to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research on research support for graduate students

  • Provide guidance to the Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research on programs to stimulate undergraduate research

  • Consult with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research on intellectual property policy issues, and

  • Consult with the Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research on research administration policies and practices.

The Research Board also:

  • oversees the annual selection of the UIS Outstanding Master’s Thesis Award

  • reviews and recommends funding for the following faculty development programs sponsored by the Provost --

    • Collaborative Project Seed Funding
    • Strategic Academic Initiatives Grants
    • Summer Competitive Scholarly Research Grants

The Research Board consists of faculty members representing the four colleges, and one Academic Professional. The Associate Vice Chancellor for Graduate Education and Research chairs the Research Board.
