GIS Workshop

The Geographic Information Systems Laboratory is pleased to offer upcoming GIS workshops. The GIS workshop is designed for beginners and is hands-on. Participants will learn the basics of GIS and the use of ArcGIS 9.2.

Lessons include:

  • Thematic mapping
  • Finding the best locations for your projects
  • Address matching and mapping (geocoding)
  • Downloading and mapping community data

Poster and map production

The GIS Lab provides support in customized poster/map production for a charge. The laboratory staff can help you generate well-designed maps/posters that meet your specific requirements.

GIS technical support

The GIS Lab provides technical support in the following areas:

  • Generate point data based on the GPS or address the customer provides
  • Generate polygon, or line features based on CAD files or digitized information
  • Digitizing and/or scanning printed maps
  • Converting scanned images into geo-referenced digital files
  • Georeferencing custom data with existing in-house datasets
  • Statistical analysis and spatial modeling
