Students entering UIS with 0-30 hours must satisfy the following lower division general education requirements of 42 hours in Writing and Communication, Life and Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Included in the 42 hours are 6 hours of Comparative Societies coursework that introduce students to the ECCE curriculum. Those two courses count toward 3 hours of Humanities and 3 hours of Social Sciences.
Transfer students entering UIS with 30-59 credit hours must satisfy the lower division requirements with the following substitutions or exceptions:
Math: Transfer students entering UIS with 30 or more credit hours are only responsible for 3 hours of Math.
Comparative Societies: Transfer students entering UIS with 30 or more credit hours are not responsible for Comparative Societies courses.
