Butler2

The UIS Forensics Team started the 14/15 season off with a bang, taking home 15 awards from the Butler University “This Day in History” tournament in Indianapolis on September 21!

– Team Captain Bob Gibbons took home 1st place in Stand-Up Comedy
– Simon Andrews became the first UIS speech competitor to grab a 1st place in his very first tournament, taking home the top prize in Editorial Impromptu. He also took 4th in regular Impromptu.
– Max Stewart nabbed 4th place in Stand-Up and 5th in regular Impromptu
– Max and Bob finished 5th place in Improv Duos
– Robbie Quance took 3rd place in Stand-Up and 6th in Radio
– Ryan Welker took 5th place in Audition Monologue and 3rd in Informative
– Emma Gillespie grabbed 4th place in Audition Monologue
– Cory Willhite took 4th place in Slam Poetry and 5th in Prose

The team also took home the 2nd place sweeps award! It was an incredible job by all participants!!!

 

Morraine Valley

The team excelled at the Moraine Valley tournament on October 11!

– Jerica Griffin took 5th place in Novice POI
– Wesley Skym grabbed 6th place in Novice ADS
– Cole Moriarty  won 4th place in Open Impromptu
– Bob Gibbons snagged 5th place in Inter-Squad Improvisational Speaking

 

ICC

These gentlemen did a great job representing UIS at the ICC Harris-Hahn “Fright Fest” on October 24-25.

For the first time in four years, a complete UIS Parliamentary Debate team was entered into competition (Bob Gibbons and Simon Andrews)!

 

Halloween3

The team relaxed and had some Halloween fun between tournaments!

 

Bradley-Norton

It may be considered by some to be a “bloodbath,” but the UIS team stormed into battle at Bradley University’s annual Norton tournament, one of the biggest Forensics events in the country!

 

Kishwaukee

The team charged into the Kishwaukee Corn Classic on November 7-8 and performed exceptionally well!

– Simon Andrews took home the 1st place speaker and 2nd place team (as a Maverick) awards in Parliamentary Debate as well as the 2nd place award in Extemporaneous Speaking
– Bob Gibbons grabbed the 6th place speaker award in Parliamentary Debate

 

CLC

The team attended the College of Lake County’s Soller Soltice Holiday Tournament to end the Fall Semester.

– Jerica Griffin took home 2nd place in Impromptu!

 

Butler-Jan

The team had so much fun as they returned to Butler University to attend the Bulldog Battle (and proved what a funny bunch they are)!

– Bob Gibbons won 1st place in Stand Up Comedy

– Max Stewart took home 6th place in Stand Up Comedy

– Robbie Quance grabbed 5th place in Stand Up Comedy and 6th place in Slam Poetry

– Tabbitha Medina got 7th place in Audition Monologue

 

Illini Stars Swing

UIS played co-host to the first annual Illini Stars Swing tournament with University of Illinois in Champaign!  It was a great new experience to be on the other side to see how a tournament is run.  The students took to it quite well!

– Jerica Griffin won 4th place in Program Oral Interpretation (Day 1)

– Simon Andrews earned 6th place in Extemporaneous Speaking (Day 2)

 

Faculty Staff Campaign  F-S Campaign-chancellor

The team talked with the UIS community (including the Chancellor!) at the 2015 Faculty-Staff Campaign!

 

IIFA State

The team headed for the finish line with a trip to the IIFA (Illinois Intercollegiate Forensics Association) State Finals at Northern Illinois University

 

PCSDL Finals

Congrats to the team for finishing the 2014-2015 season on such a high note at the PCSDL National Tournament in Indianapolis!

– Simon Andrews earned National Champion honors in Editorial Impromptu and also took 2nd place in Current Events Speaking and 5th place speaker in Congress
– Bob Gibbons won 3rd place speaker in Congress, 3rd place in Stand-Up Comedy, and 5th place in PowerPoint Sales
– Jerica Griffin took 6th place in PowerPoint Sales and 6th place in Stand-Up Comedy
– Tabbitha Medina won 6th place in Audition Monologue
– The team took 6th place overall!
