Clerk Receptionist

Job Description: Responsible for assisting secretary by answering telephones, setting up appointments, and directing visitors. Will also perform computer functions, such as data entry and clean up.
Qualifications: Must be able to use multi-line phones, have excellent customer service skills, and be familiar with computers. Able to follow office policy and procedures. Able to follow directions. Dependable. Must speak excellent English,and have a thorough understanding of English, preferably have had at least one previous semester in the U.S. if an international student.
Student Ambassador
Salary: $8.00Job Description: Conducts tours for guests and prospective students daily and at UIS Preview Days. Makes contact with prospective students. Helps host Board of Trustees. Assists with campus receptions. Helps with welcome Activities during First Week. Helps plan and produce Preview Days; serves as greeters and helps students mingle. General clerical/light manual assistance to the Office Of Admissions/Records. Must be able to perform common office duties and light manual assistance as needed. Other duties as assigned.

Salary: $9 per hour
Job Description: Help students individually or in small groups with reading or math. in local elementary schools. Students will be no older than 11 or 12 years old. Work will be given to the tutor by the classroom teacher. Tutors should spend the majority of their time helping students, not grading papers, running off copies of papers, etc. Only federal work study funds are available for these
Qualifications: Must be awarded federal work study as part of their financial aid. Must have a 2.5or above cumulative grade point average if an undergrad and 3.0 if a graduate student. .

Intern
Pay range is $8 per hour
Job Description: Assist with updating the organization's statewide activist database and listserv information. Support outreach and coalition building activities. Assist with special events for the environmental community of Illinois. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must have federal work study. Must have computer skills and experience with the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet (browsing and searching), and .email applications. Must be highly organized, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and work independently. Must have good written and oral communication skills. Should have experience with database management, other computer programs such as Powerpoint and Publisher and an interest in environmental issues and policies.
Illinois Stewardship Alliance (ISA)
Intern

Job Description: Must be awarded federal work study. Student will be involved in all aspects of the organization including participation in the legislative process and working on issues benefiting the environment, family farms, and alternative marketplace consumers. This person will also participate in the planning and implementation of special events around the state, assist in grassroots organizing to stop factory farms and to help develop local food systems. This person will be given the chance to prepare press releases and grass-roots communications, and to assist in maintaining contacts with issue coalition partners.
Qualifications: Written and oral communication skills, ability to work well with the media, legislators, and citizen activists. A strong interest in community-based organizing as well as farming and / or environmental interests are necessary.
Illinois State Museum
Collections Assistant
Salary: $8.00 per hour or above based upon funding
Job Description: Student will assist curators in entering and verifying existing records in a computer database for a wide variety of collections including prehistoric Native American artifacts, biological specimens, fossils, and rocks and minerals. The student may choose the discipline focus such as anthropology, botany, etc. The student will learn about specimen identification, georeferencing, collections organization, cataloging, conservation, and collections database management, and will assist with public programs for the community. The student will work in the Illinois State Museum Research and Collection Center.
Qualifications: Must be awarded federal work study. Previous course work in selected discipline preferred. Previous experience working with relevant specimens or collections preferred. Experience with word processing and database management preferred.
Lincoln Memorial Gardens
Salary: $8.00 per hour based upon funding
Job Description: Assist with special events. Assist the education coordinator with educational programs both during the weekday and weekends for school children and adults. Perform grounds work under the supervision of the head gardener. Do routine building maintenance. Assist with exhibit maintenance and design. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be awarded federal work study. Desirable qualifications include good communication skills, both oral and written; plant identification skills, experience working with children, previous biological, horticultural, botanical other natural science coursework. Job Description: Responsible for all filing for the Office of Records and Registration. Will also assist full-time staff with various tasks including but not limited to copying, mailings, and other routine office tasks. This employee will also provide backup customer service at a busy counter including providing assistance to students attempting to register in person, by telephone, or via the web.
Qualifications: Must be familiar with general office filing, have basic word processing skills, and be able to deal with confidential records. Must show attention to detail and accuracy is a must. Salary: $8.00Job Description: Individual will provide assistance to students attempting to register (in person, via telephone, and via Web Registration). Will prepare and send advising files, mail official transcripts to students, and assist with all records and registration mailings. Individual will provide faculty, staff, and students with information concerning policies on academic grading, probation, registration, course withdrawals, and refunding. Individual serves as a customer service representative at a busy counter. Individual is also responsible for all student records and registration filing and other duties as assigned.
