Ceramics Lab Tech  Assistant

20 hours per week

Job Description: General clean up of studio, tools, equipment, and helping with mixing clay, filling chemical buckets and organizing chemical room; firing kilns. Inventory of all clay and chemicals as well as putting them away in the proper places. Mixing of glazes, engobes, casting slip (with instructions if needed.)  Alert managing supervisor of ordering, repair, and/for facilities needs.

Qualifications: Dependable, reliable, self motivated and able to show  attention to detail. Must have some knowledge of various clays & chemicals necessary for processing and mixing. Job will  require some dirty work. Must be capable of lifting heavy bags of 50 pounds.

Digital Media Studio Assistant

Job Description:  Assist in maintaining and organizing the computer lab.  Assist students with technical and software problems.  On a regular basis, clean lab including monitors, keyboards, and mouses.  Maintain with supervisrion the VPA website and the US Gallery website.  Assist VPA faculty with assorted arts -related activities including design and printing.

Drama Assistant

Salary: $7.75

Job Description: Work at the studio theatre during audition nights for all productions. Work somewhere in the theatre during all or some performances of each UIS theatre production (determined by the Director of Theatre) which includes the backstage area, lobby, control booth as part of the running crew or other non-acting area. Serve as communication liaison between the Director of Theatre and UIS students and other theatre artists in the community. Maintain an updated mailing list for the UIS Theatre and conduct occasional mailings.  Distribute production posters, audition flyers, and similar correspondence throughout the UIS campus and occasionally off-campus. Assist with transport of props, set pieces, etc for some theatre productions.  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:  Reliable, honest, responsible.

Gallery Assistant

20 hrs/wk

Job Description: Help install exhibits, help with promotion and successful implementation of gallery functions, including volunteers, opening receptions, fund raisers, etc, office chores and gallery site.

Qualifications: Organizational skills, respect for and knowledge of artwork and some physical strength required. Flexible hours.  Preference given to art majors

Music Technology Lab Assistant

Salary:  $7.75

10-15 hrs/wk

Job Description:  Staff music technology lab for a minimum of ten hours per week, assist with future development of the lab, and complete associated projects as assigned. 

Qualifications:  Proficiency in written and spoken English.  Working knowledge of basic computer hardware and Microsoft software and an interest in learning new applications specific to music technology is essential.  Must be able to follow spoken and written directions.  Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and have the ability to interact well with a variety of personalities.  Preference given to graduate or undergraduate students with some evening availability.  An interest in music is a plus.

Visual Arts Library Assistant

Job Description: Monitor visual arts library, check out of magazines, books, and slides.

Qualifications: Minimum of 8 hours of Art History classes. Knowledge of basic library management. Good filing skills, typing and other light secretarial skills as needed. Flexibility a must.

 Studio Assistant

20 hrs/wk

Job Description: Assist in maintaining and organizing art studio classrooms. Assist with art gallery activities. Maintain (with supervision) the Visual Arts Program website and UIS Gallery website.  Assist Visual Arts faculty with assorted arts-related activities.

Qualifications: Able to lift and move objects. Organizational skills useful.
