 First Year Programs(CFYP) Advising Center

 Advisor

   Salary:  $7.75

  Job Description:  Assist students in locating tutors and other campus resources.  Conduct campus  tours and meetings for new CFYP participants.  Provide students with important and accurate academic information.   Effectively communicate study strategies to ensure academic success. Assist students with filling out academic forms such as scholarship applications.

Qualifications:  Graduate student or undergrad with a 2.5 G.P.A.or above who has completed a minimum of one academic year at UIS.  Dependable, responsible with a willingness to help others and ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.  Good organizational skills and able to complete paperwork in a timely manner.   Must have an understanding of the skills needed to succeed in college. Must be willing to attend meetings and training sessions and be willing to commit a minimum of 5 hours a week to advising and program development. Must have a professional attitude and appearance.

Undergrad Advising Center

 Assistant

Salary: $7.75

Job Description: Manage the Undergraduate Advising Center reception area.  Assist students and advisors with tasks related to advising and course scheduling.  Provide general support for the Undergraduate Advising Center and the Office of Undergraduate Education.  Complete documentation and maintain order and organization in areas of responsibility.   Assist with individual and campus community needs.

Qualifications: UIS student in good academic and disciplinary standing.  Enrollment in the general education /ECCE curriculum is preferred but not required.  Occasional evening and weekend availability may be required.  Dependable, trustworthy with strong communication and customer service skills, an appropriate and pleasant appearance, and a positive attitude.  Will be serving as a representative of this office and should be capable of exhibiting proper behavior in this role.  Must sign a letter of confidentiality and trust agreement.

 

Undergraduate Education Office

Speaker Series Assistant

Salary:  $8.00

Job Description:  

Research  prospective speakers, assist with travel arrangementsCreate promotional items for events and bibliographies of speakers.  Attend Speaker Series events.  Assist with set-up and last minute details.  Track attendance at events by monitoring  swiping of  I-cards.  Assist in developing Blackboard discussion questions.  Interact with students.   Track Blackboard discussions.  Create status reports on Blackboard participation and event attendance.   Assist Office of Undergraduate Education as needed. Hours can be daytime with occasional evenings.  

Qualifications:  Preferred candidate will have experience using Blackboard and Excel.  Event planning, marketing and promotional experience helpful.  Enrollment in the general education/ECCE curriculum preferred but not required.  Must be dependable, trustworthy and a good representative of the University of Illinois at Springfield.  Should have strong communication and customer service skills with a positive attitude.  Must sign a confidentiality and trust agreement.
