Federal Work Study
Work-Study is a federal financial aid program.
Work Study allows you to earn money to help pay educational
expenses .
Community Service Federal Work Study encourages service in the local community.
In order to apply for Work-Study, you must
complete the FAFSA. Mark "yes" to the question
on the FAFSA that asks if you are interested in student employment
(If you mark "no", you may talk to a Financial
Aid advisor and still be awarded FWS) In either case, you
must have sufficient financial need based on the analysis
of your FAFSA. If you are not awarded Work-Study but would
like to be considered , you should contact the Office of
Financial Aid. You may still work on campus as a student
worker.
If you are awarded (and do not decline)
your Federal Work-Study Award, whichever job you choose will
be paid from Federal Work-Study funds until your earnings
limit has been reached. After your limit has been reached,
you may continue to work at that same job but your salary
will be paid out of the department's funds.
Federal Community Service Work-Study jobs
are set up primarily with off-campus organizations. There
are a limited number of them based upon the Federal Community
Service money which has been allotted to the university.
