Clerk Receptionist

Job Description: Responsible for assisting
secretary by answering telephones, setting up appointments, and
directing visitors. Will also perform computer functions, such as data
entry and clean up.

multi-line phones, have excellent customer service skills, and

Student Ambassador
Salary: $7.75Job Description: Conducts
tours for guests and prospective students daily and at
UIS Preview Days. Makes contact with prospective students.
Helps host Board of Trustees. Assists with campus receptions.
Helps with welcome Activities during First Week. Helps plan
and produce Preview Days; serves as greeters and helps students
mingle. General clerical/light manual assistance to the
Office Of Admissions/Records. Must be able to perform
common office duties and light manual assistance as needed.

Qualifications: Good

Salary: $7.75Job Description: Provide exceptional
customer service at front desk by politely answering calls/questions
from walk-ins. Maintain confidentiality of all information
received in the office. Learn to use the SAMS system. Create
new files and accurately file. Keep files and file room organized. Contribute
positively to team environment. Learn the “basics” of
applying for financial assistance. Assist with mailings.
Other assignments as needed.
Qualifications: Detail oriented, good
telephone skills, dependable and punctual. A typing & filing
test will be given at the time of interview- accuracy a must. Willingness

Description: Help students individually or in small groups with
reading or math. in local elementary schools. Students will be no
older than 11 or 12 years old. Work will be given to the tutor by the
classroom teacher. Tutors should spend the majority of their time
helping students, not grading papers, running off copies of papers,
etc. Only federal work study funds are available for these

Oral History of Illinois Agriculture
Illinois State Museum RCC
The Illinois State Museum and the seeks a talented work study
student to help with its Oral History of Illinois agriculture
Project. The Oral History of Illinois Agriculture Project is funded
by a grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services. The
project is developing an interactive Web module the Audio-Video
Barn featuring digital oral-history interviews with people
involved in various aspects of agriculture and rural life in
Illinois.
Some of the oral-history interviews are from audio tapes archived
in libraries at the University of Illinois-Springfield and Northern
Illinois University. In conjunction with the Abraham Lincoln
Presidential Library and Museum, the project is also videotapeing
new interviews with a diverse array of people of various ages
from throughout the state of Illinois. All of the audio-video tapes
are being digitized and indexed by theme, topic, and geographic
location using computer software to make them searchable for
subjects of special interest such as dairy cattle, round barns, and
women’s roles on the farm. Indexing is being accomplished in
partnership with historians from the University at Buffalo
Technology Incubator, State University of New York. The Interactive
Audio-Video Barn web module will provide museum and internet
visitors with a rich, personal view of Illinois agriculture-past,
present, and future.

Lincoln Memorial Gardens

Job Description: Assist with
special events. Assist the education coordinator with
educational programs both during the weekday and weekends for
school children and adults. Perform grounds work under the
supervision of the head gardener. Do routine building
maintenance. Assist with exhibit maintenance and design.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Must be
awarded federal work study. Desirable qualifications
include good communication skills, both oral and written; plant
identification skills, experience working with children,
previous biological, horticultural, botanical other natural
science coursework. Necessary qualifications include
dependable transportation, and the ability to perform occasional
strenuous physical labor.
Records/Registration
Records Registration Clerk
Salary: $7.75Job Description: Individual will provide assistance
to students attempting to register (in person, via telephone,
and via Web Registration). Will prepare and send advising
files, mail official transcripts to students, and assist with
all records and registration mailings. Individual will
provide faculty, staff, and students with information concerning
policies on academic grading, probation, registration, course
withdrawals, and refunding. Individual serves as a
customer service representative at a busy counter.
Individual is also responsible for all student records and
registration filing and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Excellent communications,
organizational and telephone skills. Individual must be
responsible, dependable, motivated, and willing to work well
under pressure in a multi-task oriented environment.
Experience dealing with people in stressful situations and an
ability to learn complex policies/procedures is a must.
Individual must be familiar with general office filing, have
basic typing skills, and be able to deal with confidential
records. Excellent phone etiquette is also required.
