Environmental Compliance

UIS is firmly committed to maintaining a safe working environment. In support of this commitment, the university has directed Facility Services along with the Environmental Health and Safety Committee and University Counsel, to maintain compliance with a variety of laws dealing with environmental health and safety issues on campus. Facility Services is responsible for conducting research on laws regulating hazardous substances, establishing guidelines to achieve compliance with such laws, providing mandatory training, meeting associated reporting requirements, and to act as a liason with government regulatory agencies. Currently, environmental health and safety compliance issues under Facility Services include:

Hazard communication

Bloodborne pathogens

Laboratory safety
